GALE IN AUCKLAND.

INTERRUPTIONS TO SERVICES. (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 28. Another south-westerly gale swept Auckland to-night, leaving a trail of damage lo add to the trouble caused by Sunday night's storm. Claps of thunder and flashes of lightning again accompanied the gale, and there were heavy squalls of rain and hail. Falls of rain during the 24 hours to t) o'clock Ihis morning brought the fall for the month to 7.80 inches, or 2.60 inches more than the average. No sooner had power hoard and telephone fault men repaired the ravages of the previous storm, and prepared themselves for an easier night, than the next gale brought a new crop of dislocations caused by falling trees, crossed wires, and the blowing oi‘ fuses. Many a harassed housewife, worrying over the gas shortage, suddenly found the power failure a further factor to fight. It was small wonder that telephone and power services were affected, for the gale oil Sunday night reached a maximum velocity of C 4 miles an hour, and tonight o 6 miles an hour. Every district had its troubles with the telephone service.
