MISSION LECTURE.

WOMEN’S ORGANISATIONS. Representatives of about a dozen women’s organisations in the Ashburton County met at the Salvation Army Hall yesterday afternoon to hear a mission lecture by Mrs (Major) I. Argyle, who has lately returned from India. After the opening song and prayer a thought was presented by each representative of an organisation, those represented being:—Baptist Women’s Missionary Union, Methodist Women’s Auxiliary, Rakaia Mothers’ Union, Women’s Christian Temperance Union, Hampstead subBranch of the Red Cross Society, Church of Christ Auxiliary, Allenton Women’s Institute, Tinwald Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union, Salvation Army Home League, and Ashburton Mothers’ Union.

A duet was sung by Mesdames M. Constable and T. Frew. A short address was -given by Major I. Argyle and Adjutant P. L. Smith gave a ScripLire reading. Votes of thanks were proposed by Mrs (Adjutant) P. L. Smith and J. Browning. Afternoon tea was served, the gathering being the guests of the Salvation Army Home League.
