OBITUARY.

MRS ELLEN MARSHALL. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH WORKER. The death of Mrs Ellen Marshall, widow of the Rev. William Marshall, at Ashburton on Tuesday constitutes a great loss to the Presbyterian Church, in which she took a very active interest. Her husband had administered at Knox Church (Christchurch). Lower Hutt, Avondale, Ashburton South, Hanmer Springs and St. Andrews (Ashburton). Because of her great interest in missions, Mrs Marshall held the office of president of the Presbyterian Womens Missionary Union at each of those places. At Fleming ton and Hanmer Springs, she was in charge of the Sunday Schools as well. She accompanied her husband to Great Britain in 1935, when he represented New Zealand at the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland at Edinburgh. Mrs Marshall was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Bain, of Christchurch, her sister and three brothers are still living.

Mrs Marshall is survived by her daughter, Mrs H. D. Gunn, of Ashburton, and two grand-children.
