CORRECT ADDRESS.
LETTERS TO PRISONERS OF WAR. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. When persons communicating with prisoners-of-war in Germany intend their letters to go direct to the prison camp in Germany the prison camp address should be used, said the Post-master-General (the Hon. P. C. Webb) to-day. If, on the other hand, it <s intended that the letters should he held in London pending‘repatriation of the addressees, the letters should be addressed care of the High Commissioner’s office, London, and definite indication given in the bottom left-hand corner of the cover that they were to be held.
Mr Webb made this statement following a report from the High Commissioner (Mr W. J. Jordan) that the relatives of some prisoners were apparently still forwarding all letters to prisoners in Germany, care of the High Commissioner’s office, without indicating whether the letters should be forwarded to Germany or retained pending repatriation.
