THE WEATHER.
A DULL WEEK-END. An overcast sky and southerly breeze kept the atmosphere at Ashburton yesterday chilly and dull. After a frost of 6.1 degrees, conditions this morning Avere rather chilly, with no sunshine till late in the morning. In the afternoon, hoAvever, conditions Avere most pleasant. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday Avere 50.2 and 31.4 degrees, compared with 59.3 and 44.1 on Saturday. The barometer to-day registered 29.42 inches, against 29.39 yesterday. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as folknvs: Modei’ate to fresh northerly to nortliAvesterly Avinds. Some further rain in the ranges; otherwise fair to cloudy. Temperatures moderate. Further outlook: Temporary southwestevly change with scattered showers.
