WOMEN’S HOCKEY.
ASHBURTON BEATS TEKAU.
The only match in the Women’s Hockey Association’s competition on Saturday was a senior game between Ashburton and Tekau, Ashburton winning by four goals to three. Generally speaking, play was very even but the goal shooting of Ashburton showed little improvement on the poor level of last week. When the team has brought this feature of its play up to standard it will be hard to beat. The score at half-time was 2-all, and Ashburton were markedly superior in the second spell, although there was a slight lack of combination among the forwards. Tekau played a sound defensive game i but their forwards were often i caught out of position. Messrs W. T. Corbett and C. Bishop were the referees.
