EARLIER MARRIAGES.
LONDON, May 30. Earlier marriages are advocated by Dr. Robert Sutherland, medical adviser to the Central Council for Health and Education, in a report to the Church of Scotland General sembly. Dr. Sutherland said that the best age for marriage Avas the early tAven ties, yet, largely for economic reasons, the average marriage age in Britain is 25J for Avomen, and 271 for men.
“Conditions of employment and housing must be altered, and reasonable security offered in Avliich to reai a family and enjoy the companionship of one’s mate,” he said. “We cannot Avonder that many feel they must ‘ have their fun ’ before marriage, because they will have little later. “The problem of venereal disease will remain unsolved until earlier marriages are made possible.”
