THE WEATHER.
MOST PLEASANT TO-DAY. With the sun shining brightly from a cloud-flecked sky, conditions at Ashburton to-day were most pleasant. There was a gentle northerly breeze. Maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 64 and 43.4 degrees, compared with 67.1 and 45.3 on Wednesday. The barometer has fallen considerably, from 30.0 S inches yesterday to 29.7 S to-day.

The forecast for the east 1 coast of the South Island from Blenheim - to yOamaru is as follows: Moderate north-easterly winds along the coast and northerlies inland, turning to south-westerly to-morrow. Pine at first hut cloud increasing and some showers probably with a south-west change. Temperatures temporarily milder. Further outlook: A few showers.
