FIFTY YEARS SYNE. (From the “Guardian,” Mar. 24, 1894). Presentation at Station. —A pleasingceremony took place at the Ashburton Railway Station on Friday night, the staff of the station meeting in the parcel office to make a presentation to Mr William Harding, on the occasion of his marriage. He was presented with a handsome marble clock by the Stationmaster (Mr Stevenson). TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. (From the “Guardian,” Mar. 24, 1919). Scarcity of Firewood. —The scarcity of firewood and coal was mentioned by Cr. McElrea at the Borough Council meeting last evening. He stated that there were pine trees on a reserve in the Borough and certain willows that could be thinned out. It was decided to refer the matter to the .Reserves Committee.
