GRATITUDE AND PRIDE
RESOLUTION OF THE HOUSE. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 23. “The resolution requires no embellishing words. ; I am sure it contains the sentiments of the House and the country.” With these words the Prime Minister (the Rt. lion. P. Fraser) moved to following resolution when the House met this afternoon: “That this House of Representatives in Parliament assembled, deeply conscious of the sacrifice of New Zealand forces serving overseas on land, at sea, and in the air, with minds and hearts specially directed tbAvard the force in the difficult action at Cassino, and with wholehearted admiration for the high skill and enduring courage which have always marked the conduct of the 2nd New Zealand Division in the most dangerous actions of njany arduous campaigns, again records its deep sense of gratitude and pride in their magnificent example in performing with the same devotion to duty another most exacting task on the battlefields of Italy.” The resolution was seconded by tlie Leader of the Opposition (Mr S. G. Holland) and passed unanimously.
