WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

THE MAYFIELD MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Mayfield Women’s Institute was held in the Lodge Room, the president (Mrs G. ,T. Murdoch) presiding over a good attendance. A motion of sympathy with Mrs M. Whiting in her recent bereavement was carried, members standing in silence.

The motto, ‘‘Always laugh when you can—it’s cheap medicine,” Avas given by Mrs McMurcliy. The roll-call was “A New Year Resolution.” A Avelcome Avas extended to Mrs L. R. Harrison, a former member. The president Avas nominated for the executive committee.

Letters of thanks for parcels were received from T. Heron, L. Woods and C. Parkin. Nominations for the committee were received.

The sales table, in charge of Mrs H. J. Lilley, did good business. Competitions, judged by Mrs J. H. Lamb, resulted: Peas, Mrs C. Dunstan 1, Mrs G. I. Murdoch 2, Mrs R. Austin 3; Christmas cake, Mrs H. ScoAvn 1, Mrs D. McMurchy 2, Mrs R. Miller 3; truss, Mrs G. J. Murdoch 1, Mrs C. Dunstan 2. The hostesses were Mrs C. Dunstan and Miss E. Goldsmith.
