THE WEATHER.
RAINFALL OF 36 POINTS Showers of rain fell at Ashburton last evening, 36 points being recorded. Although the sky was threatening to-day, no rain fell. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 64.5 and 49.5 degrees, compared with 64.3 and 52.1 on Wednesday. The barometer reading to-day was 29.63 inches, against 29.58 yesterday.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast o* the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate south-westerly winds, turning north-easterly to-morrow. Some scattered drizzle at first, blit mainly fair, with moderate temperatures. Further outlook: Fair.
