CANCER TREATMENT.
PROPOSALS IN AUSTRALIA SYDNEY, Jan. 13. The formation of a New South Wales Cancer Institute is recommended by two English cancer experts, Dr. Ralston Paterson and Dr. Edith Paterson. Dr. Paterson and his wife were invited to visit Now South Wales to advise the State Government on the establishment of a cancer institute, for which £IOO,OOO lias already been voted. Their report, handed to the State Premier (Mr W. J. McKell), estimates that the capital cost of the institute should not exceed £250,000, and that it might be considerably less if the co-operation of Sydney hospitals can be secured in the transfer of their plant and radium. The initial annual expenditure is estimated at £50,000, anti the report suggests that this amount is already being inefficiently spent every year on cancer treatment in New South Wales.
The report recommends the centralisation of all cancer treatment.
