WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
THE WAKANUI MEETING.
The Wakanui Women’s Institute met at the home of the president (Mrs D. Dick). It was decided to send the Institutes’ calendar to the Cuffey Institute (England). It was decided that the next meeting be a children’s Christmas party at the hall on December 8. Mesdames W. Hendrie and W. But* terick, delegates to the half-yearly meeting of the Federation, reported on the last meeting, and were accorded a vote of thanks by Mrs Dick. The monthly competitions, judged by Mrs C. Protheroe and Miss Neill, resulted: Premier bloom (large), Mrs D. Dick 1, Miss G. Butterick and Mrs W. Hendrie (equal) 2, Mesdames W. Butterick, H. Watson and M. F. Kingsbury (equal) 3; (small), Miss Butterick 1, Mrs H. Watson 2, Mrs D. Dick and Mrs W. Butterick (equal) 3; spring flowers, Mrs D. Dick and Mrs W. Butterick (equal) 1, Mrs M. Kingsbury, 2; marmalade, Miss G. Butterick and Mrs D. Dick (equal) 1, Mrs M. Kingsbury 2, Mrs W. Hendrie 3; ginger nuts for military hospital, Mrs M. Kingsbury 1, Miss G. Butterick 2, Mrs IY. Dick 3.
Hostesses Were # Misses Neil and Butterick.
