FIFTY YEARS SYNE. (From the “Guardian,” Nov. 17, 1893). Dawn of Peace Meeting—The Dawn of Peace held its meeting on Thursday evening in the Templar Hall. It was unanimously resolved to support Mr Waby as M.11.R. for Ashburton, he being the only candidate who is in favour of giving the control of the liquor traffic in to the hands of the people by majority vote. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. (From the “Guardian,” Nov. 17, 1918). Influenza Epidemic—There appears to be no sign of abatement of the influenza epidemic and many fresh cases were reported to-day. Between 30 and 40 inmates from the Tuarangi Old Men’s Home a!re afflicted and assistance was sent from the bureau.
