MANPOWER PROBLEM.
MR HOLLAND IN AUSTRALIA. MELBOURNE, November 16. A similarity between New Zealand and Australian problems impressed Mr S. G- Holland, Leader of the New Zealand Opposition, who is visiting Melbourne. He said that New Zealand’s manpower problem was similar to Australia’s. A solution could not be longer delayed, as it was impossible fc& New Zealand to maintain her present military commitments and at the same time increase production to the' extent required.
Since his arrival in Melbourne last week, Mr Holland has had discussions with Mr Curtin, Mr Menzies and other public men. From these discussions, he said, he is convinced that Australia and New Zealand must reach a common understanding to make a common approach to the future problem of Pacific control. Such interchanges should he by representatives of all parties, not merely of the parties at present in power.
