CONCERT AT METHVEN.

A successful and well -attended concert was held in the Methven Town Hall by the Methven Ladies’ Choral and the Methven Orchestral Societies in aid of the funds of the two societies. In its first appearance in Methven the recently-formed ladies’ choir created a highly favourable impression with its rendering of “The Little Sandman,” “Go Lovely Rose,” “Music When Soft Voices Die,” and several other equally attractive songs. The orchestra made a good impression with its playing of several marches, including “March Taunhauser,” “Comrades,” and “War March of the Priests.” A quartette consisting of Mrs Tempero and Mrs Richards, Messrs A. L. Mangin and R. Cooper was warmly received for its presentation of “Old Mother Hubbard .’’"“Carry Me Back to Old Virgihhy” and “The Traction Engine.”

A play, “Villa for Sale,” produced by Mrs McKinnon, a duet by Miss E. Mangin and Mrs L. Richards, sketches by Mr A. T. Zeigler and other items contributed to an attractive programme.
