ALLENTON SCHOOL.

The Allenton School Committee met last evening, there being present Messrs G. H. Rollinson (chairman), R. Hughes, R. Turnbull, H. Vartlia, B. Evans, and J, Southward (headmaster) . The average roll for the first four weeks of the third term was 225, reported the headmaster. The roll for the week ended last Friday was: Girls 113, boys 114—-a total of 227. The senior A basketball team was runner-up in the school competitions. Marjorie Hunter as captain and Elsie Watson were chosen for the senior representative team, while Judith Eaden and Natalie Turnbull were junior representatives. Mr T. Archer, school inspector, visited the school on September 15, 16 and 17. Mrs Orchiston left the staff on October 1 and Miss J. Cockroft was relieving teacher. The visiting committee, Messrs Turnbull and Vartha, reported everything to be in excellent order. Messrs Evans and Gowans were appointed a visiting committee for the coming month. It was decided to write to Mr R. G. Gerard congratulating him on his election to Parliament.
