ALLENTQN OPEN TOURNEY. The open rink tournament held by the Allenton Bowlins Club on Saturday was a success, 10 rinks taking part. Four rinks tied with three wins out of four sanies. The semi-finals were won by Kay (Shirley),.who beat Mathieson (Allenton), and Spearman (R.S.A.), who beat Lowry (Ashburton). The final was won by Kay. Details are: First Round-— Spearman beat Mactier, Kay beat Lowry, Mathieson beat J. P. Boothroyd, Templeton beat Cowans, Thomas beat Rapley. Second Round —Kay beat Mactier, Lowry beat 'Cowans, Boothroyd and Thomas tied, Spearman beat Templeton. Third Round Mathieson beat Templeton, Rapley beat Gowans, M:retier beat Thomas, Lowry beat Spearman, Kay beat Boothroyd. Fourth Round —Gowans beat Boothroyd, Templeton and Thomas tied, Spearman beat Rapley, Kay beat Mactier, Lowry beat Mathieson. METHVEN SEASON OPENED. The Metliven Bowling Club openetl the season on Saturday. Considering the wbather of the past mouth the green was in surprisingly good order. There was a good attendance. The president (Mr S. Campbell) declared the season opened. Mrs Leask threw the first kitty and Mrs Campbell the first bowl. Those present were the guests of the president and Mrs Campbell at afternoon tea.
