PATRIOTIC FUNDS.
The monthly meeting of the Methven Patriotic Committee was well attended. Mr R. Wootton presided. The chairman spoke on the woi'k already done in dividing the district into blocks, and it was decided that members of tho committee convene meetings on the outlying districts with a view to fostering interest in the patriotic appeal, which is at present lagging far behind other districts in the County. It is the intention of the committee to continue with the card system, and it is hoped that the response will show much improvement. The ladies of the committee held a street stall recently, and as a result £SO was raised. A 1 meeting of the town district collectors is to be held at an early date to discuss the most suitable means of collections and of increasing interest in the appeal,
