THE WEATHER.
RAIN DURING THE NIGHT. The sky at Ashburton was dull for the greater part of to-day, following a showery night, in which 32 points of rain were recorded. The weather yesterday was cold, with a dull sky, a north-west wind suddenly changing to* south-west in the late afternoon. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 55.8 and 39.1 degrees, and 67 and 40.3 on Saturday. The barometer this morning registered 30.05, compared with 29.6 S yesterday. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate north-easterlies, freshening at times, to-morrow. Fair to cloudy, apart from scattered morning mist or drizzle. Further outlook: Similar conditions.
