PATRIOTIC FUNDS.
ACTIVITIES AT TINWALD. RECENT CANVASS YIELDS £250. The house-to-house canvass held by the Tlmvald Patriotic Committee realised £250, the chairman (Mr H. B. Millichamp) reported to a meeting of the committee. St. Andrew’s (Anglican) Church advised that a social in aid of patriotic funds had realised £l4. Members expressed appreciation of ((his assistance in raising the district’s quota. Mi's Rodd stated that the Women’s Institute would hold a community sing in August, when half the proceeds would go to patriotic funds. The Tinwald committee will be in charge of the Fun Parlour at Ashburton on August 27, and it was decided to have the following stalls: Cake and sweets, produce, work and variety, and jumblel Competitions will be held, together with a copper trail. The conveners of the various stalls were appointed, and it was decided to canvass the district for contributions.
Mr W. Colville offered to take charge of the bottle drive on August 14.
