TEA AND SUGAR UNCHANGED. POSITION REGARDING HOSIERY NEW CARD TO BE ISSUED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The tea and sugar rations for August will remain the same as for July, said the Food and Rationing Controller (Mr J. E. Thomas) to-day. Coupons will be available as follows: Sugarnumbers 27 to 40 with a value of 12 ! ounces each. Tea —Numbers 37 to 40 with a value of two ounces each. The sugar coupon number 49 released in April last is available only up to Saturday. This coupon, which has a value of .three pounds of sugar was released for jam making during the period from April to July. The current hosiery rationing period during which coupon Xl3 has been used for the purchase of one pair of fully-fashioned silk or art silk stockings expires at the end of this month (Saturday). ! Announcing the continuation of the hosiery rationing scheme the Rationing Controller said to-day that it was not proposed to use the coupons in the old rationing book any longer for hosiery. From August 1 special cards will be used in place- of the X coupon sheets in the old ration book. These will be issued from rationing offices from Monday onwards and may he obtained by all women who have attained the age of 16 years. In the larger city areas, for the first few weeks, an issue of cards will also be made at suburban post offices. Applicants will be required to produce their Social Security book, current ration book and the X sheet torn from the old ration book, and will receive a card containing eight hosiery coupons. Girls attaining 16 years after Sunday may obtain a special card at any time after their 16th birthday. The first coupon on the new card, number ZlOl, will be available for the purchase of one pair of fully-fashioned silk or art silk stockings from Monday to January 31 next.
