THE WEATHER.
FINE DAY FOLLOWS FROST. After a frost of 11.3 degrees at Ashburton to-day the sun shone brightly and the day was pleasant except for a cold north-east wind. There was a maximum temperature of 48 degrees yesterday, compared with 52.1 on Tuesday. while the minimum was 25.9, against 35.9. In the barometer reading there was an increase to 29.93 inches from 29.67 inches yesterday. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to moderate and variable winds with north-easterlies predominating on the coast. Weather line. Temperatures cold, with hard frosts. Further outlook: Little immediate change.
