CHILDREN’S HOME
WHEN MOTHERS ARE UNWELL. HOSPITAL BOARD’S INTEREST. VIKAYS OF WOMEN'S ORGANISATIONS SOUGHT. Interest is being taken by the Ashburton Hospital Board in tbe establishment in the town of a home Inr children whose mothers are unwell or in maternity hospitals and it has communicated along these lines with the Ashburton Branch of the Blanket Society. the Mid-Canterbury Federation of Women’s Institutes and the MidCanterbury Executive of the Women s Division of the Farmers’ 1 nion. Although the Board was not sure that the administration ol such a home could legally be undertaken by it and it was suggested that the function was more hyi way of being a State one. the Board was aware that great difficulty was faced in obtaining domestic assistance in tbe borne and was anxious to assist if possible, stated the letters sent to the organisations. Tbe Board would welcome tbe views ol the executives regarding the necessity lor such a home, its administration and finance and by whom tbe institution should bo controlled.
AVhen the matter was discussed at the annual meeting of the Ashburton Branch of the Plunkct Society it was deferred till the next meeting ol the com m?S&too.
