ESCAPE FROM PRISON.
TWO MEN RECAPTURED. (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April 29. ’■ Two prisoners escaped from the Auckland prison on Wednesday afternoon, but were quickly captured after getting only a short distance. They were Stanley Thomas Port, who is serving a term of three years’ reformative detention for shopbreaking and 'burglary, as well as 12 montlm’ imprisonment with hard labour for escaping from the same gaol on January 7, and Sam Repia, who, in addition to a 'sentence of three years 1 , imprisonment for theft, was sentenced to six months’ 'imprisonment for escaping from the Auckland prison on March 18.
' The alarm was sounded about 3 o’clock, when it was found that the two men were missing from the quarry. They had made their way 'down a branch railway line, but were held by some civilians and eventually returned to prison.
