Whirlwinds, escorted by Spitfires, one of which is missing, continued the offensive against enemy shipping today, says the Air Ministry. They attacked a convoy of eight ships off the coast of Brittany. A minesweeper at the rear of the convoy received four hits from two Whirlwind bombers and another minesweeper and a trawler also received bomb hits. Despite intense light and heavy anti-aircraft fire the escorting fighters swept dow r n to a low level and raked the enemy ships with cannon and machine-gun fire. —British Official Wireless.
