HEAVY BOMBERS ATTACK BARI.

A Middle East air communique says: “Following the daylight raid by American heavy bombers on the aerodrome at Bari, the Italian air base, Royal Air Force bombers carried out another attack on Bari on Monday night, several large fires being, sttiited.
“Long-range fighters attacked a small enemy vessel near Rhodes yesterday. The crew abandoned the ship, whicli was last seen burning, with a heavv list.
“From these and other operations one of our aircraft is missing.”—British Official Wireless.
Au American spokesman in Cairo expressed the opinion that the Bari air base, which is a great assembly point in Southern Italy for Axis bombers and fighters, was nearly blasted off the map in the raid by Liberators on Monday, which was the heaviest yet made by the United States 9th Air Force in the Middle East. The Liberators dropped nearly 250,0001 bof bombs, which completely (wiped out hangars and runways. Many aircraft on the ground were destroyed.
