Messrs G. C. Nicoll and N. Robilliard have been reappointed by the Canterbury Education Board .as its l’.epi esentatives /on the Ashburton High School Board.

Lieutenant W. G. Corbett, New Zealand temporary Staff, returned today .from a fortnight’s course of instruction at a military camp.

Lieutenant J. L. L. Smith has icsigned his commission in the New Zealand Temporary Staff, states the latest Gazette.

Corporal A. G. Rankin and Guardsman S. G. Quartermain (Pendarvos) and Guardsman R. Johnston (Springburn) returned to-day from courses of instruction for Home Guardsmen.

Mr R McPherson, the Dominion Wheat and Flour Controller, discussed the 1943 wheat-growing programme with the Mid-Canterbury Council of Primary Production last evening. All the discussion was taken in committee.

The Rev. E. D. Grounds, who will be discharged from military service to take charge of the Rakaia-Methven Methodist Circuit, lias been gazetted an officiating minister under the Marriage Act.

Mr E. J. Daniel (secretary of the Ashburton Returned Services Associartion) and Mrs Daniel were presented last evening with a cheque to mark the occasion of their recent mai’riage. The presentation ivas made by the president (Mr W. G. Welsh) at a card evening, which yvas well attended by members of the Association. Mr Daniel has been secretary of the Association since 1939 and. has been in charge of the Soldiers’ Club for 13 years.
