SITTING FOR EXAMINATIONS.
POSTPONEMENT OF BERVIGE. Appeal Boards had been recommended to grant postponement of service until January 1, 1943, of any student intending to sit for the University Entrance examination next December who had been called in the seventeenth ballot, if an appeal was lodged by him or on the grounds of undue hardship, said a letter from the Director of Education received by the Ashburton Technical School Board last evening. The appeal would have to be supported by a certificate from the Principal of the school that the appellant was a full-time student intending to sit the examinations, and that he had diligently studied and had a reasonable chance of passing the examination. It had been'recommended that as far as possible formal hearings should he avoided and the certificated accepted as sufficient evidence of the facts, the letter said.
