TRIAL ON SATURDAY.

WARDENS FINALISE DETAILS. WELLINGTON WILL GIVE ALARM. Details for the trial on Saturday were decided by wardens of the Emergency Precautions Services at their fortnightly meeting last evening. The first aids, rescue, demolition, auxiliary police, auxiliary traffic police, fire brigade, and auxiliary fire services will take part. The question was raised what people taking part in sport at the time of the trial should do, and it Was decided that their activities would not be interfered with, on condition that they remained withip their respective sports grounds, and did not encroach upon the streets. It is hoped that none of the members of the services will leave their homes for their posts until the alarm has sounded, as this would give a false impression of efficiency, and it is desired to see how the organisation would function under actual emergency conditions.

Incidents in Each Area.

There are 12 wardens’ posts in the town, and matters will be arrangedso that there are at least two, and in some cases more, incidents in each warden’s territory, thus giving all the chance to gain experience. At the request of the superintendent (Mr H. Hefford), the fire brigade will receive approximately 12 calls, to test its efficiency when called upon to cope with a large amount of work.

The auxiliary traffic police will be cn duty on the main thoroughfares, and the rest of the streets wil be covered by the auxiliary police, who will attend to all traffic in addition to their other tluties. \

The alarm will be given from E.P.S. headquarters in Wellington, and immediately upon its receipt, the sirens will sound in Ashburton. This procedure furnishes a test for the communications between Ashburton and Wellington.
