BOWLING.
THE ASHBURTON CLUB. The monthly meeting of the committee .of the Ashburton Rowling Club was held last evening, when the president (Mr T. Lewitt) presided. Ope new member was elected. It was decided to open the season on Saturday, October 17. To conserve the green thero will be no further play until October 24, after which it is expected that normal play will he possible. A progressive pairs tournament ,in aid of the patriotic funds will he held on Labour Day. The green is expected to be in good order this season. The president expressed appreciation of the voluntary work of several enthusiastic members who assisted to top-dress and prepare the green for the season’s play. It was decided that the usual competitions will be held “this season, entries to close on November 14.
