THE WEATHER.
OVERCAST AND COOL TO-DAY. Cool and overcast conditions prevailed in Ashburton to-day, but no rain l fell. Light showers fell day yesterday arid again in the evening, fontpoints being recorded, giving a total 'of 16 points since the wet spell began. Maximum arid minimum temperatures yesterday compared with those on Tuesday were 53 (52.4) degrees and 46.4 (46.9) degrees. The barometer to-day stood at 30.11 inches, a. slight drop on yesterday’s reading of 30.18 inches. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (P A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The foi-ecasU for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oanjaru is as follows:—• ■ Light to moderate north-easterly win,ds, freshening at times on the coast. Weather cloudy, with occasional drizzle and fog, more especially on the coast. Temperatures moderate. Further outlook: Little immediate change.
