CONVOY ATTACKED.
GERMANS CLAIM SINKINGS. CRUISER AND 28 MERCHANTMEN. ((lice. 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, July 7. The Berlin radio, in a special announcement, declared that the Luftwaffe and U-boats since last Thursday attacked a large, strongly - escorted British-American convoy of 38 vessels, en route to Archangel. German bombers sank an American cruiser and If) merchantmen, totalling 122,000 tons IJ-boats sank nine merchantmen, totalling 70,400 tons. The remainder of the convoy was dispersed, being again attacked.
