WOMEN’S DIVISION.
THE ASHBURTON BRANCH. A social hour was spent, after the business session at the monthly meeting of the Ashburton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. Mrs A. S. Hayman presided. The roll call ‘Oly most embarrassing moment” was very amusing. Owing to petrol restrictions it, was decided not to meet in Febiuaiv. Mbs Ellis thanked members for the presentation sent to her in appreciation of her activities in connection with Ashburton branch finance. Competitions resulted: Iced orange cake: Mrs Ellis 1. Mrs Meaclem 2. Floating bowl: Mrs Meaclem 1. Largest numbet of peas in one pod: Hawke 1, Mrs Cass 2, Mrs Meacleam 3, Mrs Ellis 4. Bloom: -Airs Meaclem and Mrs Hawke (equal) 1, Mrs J. Hawke 3, Mrs Meaclem 4. Spike:'Mis Meaclem 1. T . , .. 'the motto was: “Line up to the best that is in you.”
