DEPUTY-CHIEF APPOINTED. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, January 22. A Gazette published to-night notifies that Group-Captain Arthur do Terrotte Nevijlle relinquishes his aplpointment as Air Force Member for Supply, and is appointed Deputy Chief of the Air Staff, and remains a. member of the Air Board. . Wing - Commander Francis Esme Theodore Hewlett is apointed to succeed Group-Captain Neville as Air Force Member for Supply, with membership on the Air Board.

Group - Captain Neville, who was trained at the Royal Military College at Duntroon, Australia, was on active service on the North-West Frontier or India in 1920 and 1921, and held staff and regimental appointments in New Zealand until transferred to the Air Force in 1930.. He attended'the Royal Air Force Staff College in 1935, and was liaison officer at the Air Ministry in 1936. Since the beginning of the war he has been Air Force member for supply on the Air Board. Group Captain Hewlett, who is a son of Maurice Hewiett, the English novelist, qualified as a* pilot at Brooklands 31 years ago. He went to sea as a midshipman in the Royal Navy in 1903, and later joined the, Royal Naval Air Service in 1912 as a sub-lieutenant. In the Great War he served at «Dun kirk, in the Aegean Sea, and at the Air Ministry, receiving a permanent commission in the Royal Air Force m 1918. He was senior equipment staff officer, Coastal Area, in 1933 and 1934, and was placed on the retired list in the latter year.
