WOULD GRANT INDEPENDENCE. STATEMENT BY JAPANESE PREMIER. (Rec, 9.35 a.m.) TOKIO, Jan. 21. The Prime Minister .(General Tojo) said that Jqpan would gladly enable the Philippines to enjoy the honour of independence provided the Filipinos were willing to help to achieve coprosperity.
