GERMANY & HUNGARY

A SIGNIFICANT VISIT. ATTITUDE TOWARD THE WAR. (Rcc. 2 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 20. It is officially announced in Budapest that Marshal Keitel (head of the Supreme Command of the Armed Forces in Germany) lias arrived there and is staying several days, thus returning the visit paid to Berlin by the Hungarian War Minister (Herr Bartha) a year ago. The diplomatic correspondent ol “The Times” says that following the visits of von Rjbbentrop and Count Cian.o, Marshal Keitel’s visit shows that Hungary’s attitude is a matter of particular concern to the Axis. There is also rivalry between Italy and Germany for ascendency at Budapest. Marshal Keitel may hope to win absolute German control of the Hungarian Army and also to reverse Hungary’s refusal of veil Ribhcntrop’s suggestion that more Hungarian divisions should he sent to the Russian front. Germany mav offer Hungary more Yugoslavian territory as a bribe.
