RELEASE OF MEN FROM CAMPS THE HEARING OF APPLICATIONS. Sittings of the Manpower Committee will be held next week for the sole purpose of considering applications for release from mobilisation camps of key men for essential harvest work. The applications from Smith Canterbury applicants will be heard at Timaru on Monday and in respect of Mid-Canter-bury cases at the Courthouse, Ashburton, next Wednesday. In making this announcement the secretary indicated that he must be communicated with by letter or telephone at least one day before the hearings, and that applicants will not he heard unless they supply the information mentioned in the announcement made by the Minister of National Service appearing in last. Saturday’s ‘“Guardian.” It was emphasised that in particular the name and location of the worker’s military unit must he given, and that the local representative of the Primary Production Council should be approached for his advice on the merits of 1 lie* application which can b© supplied if necessary, direct to the secretary. No other special days have been set, aside for consideration of these applications, and if any late ones are received they will require to he dealt with at such subsequent times as ■ the committee sits.
