THE BOY SCOUTS.
CAMP TO BE HELD AT LEESTON. The executive of the Ashburton Boy Scout Association met last evening, Mr Li. E. Carter presiding. It was decided that no camp be held in the Ashburton County this year, but a letter was received from the Christchurch Association advising that a combined Christmas camp would be held at Leeston between December 27 and January 5, for troops whose Scoutmasters are unable to take them to camp. The cost would be 17s 6d, including rail fare. It was decided to hold a picnic in Ashburton for Scouts, Cubs and their parents early in the New Year, arrangements to be made later. > The Scoutmaster (Mr F. Nicolls) was granted leave of absence for the duration of the war. It was reported that -a letter had been received from the Group Scoutmaster (Mr C. Chambers), now serving overseas, in which he mentioned having met numerous English and Egyptian Scouts, who had formed a group. It was decided that the “break-up” be held in the second week of December.
