UNITED FRONT

DEMOCRACIES IN THE PACIFIC. NEGOTIATIONS COMPLETED. RESISTANCE OF AGGRESSION. (United Press Association—Copyright.) CANBERRA, October 20. j Within the last 24 hours the democratic countries in the Pacific have formed a united front. News of the completion of far-reaching negotiations between Britain, America, China, the Netherlands East Indies, Australia and New Zealand was released to-day.

“The difficulties standing in the way of an agreement for co-operation in resisting aggression in the Pacific have been surmounted,” said the Prime Minister of Australia (Mr J. Curtin) today. Air Curtin showed obvious pleasure at the successful ending to the delicate negotiations. He said the degree of co-operation between the democratic countries had been substantial. Air Curtin added that there had been no change over the week-end in the tension in the Pacific, which was neither better nor worse.
