STATE HOUSES.

PROGRESS IN BEACH ROAD. TWELVE DWELLINGS PROVIDED. ' In a few weeks the new group of State houses at the corner of Beach Road and Willow Street will be ready for occupation. All of wood, the group of houses will provide 12 dwellings, in nine units, of which three are double units.

The exterior work has been completed, and the workmen are engaged on the interior decoration. The tool sheds at the rear of the houses have been completed and most of the fencing has been erected. At the rear of the sections aro concrete posts carrying wiro strands and wire netting, but between the houses posts and rails, on which wire netting will he placed, are being employed for the first time in Ashburton, so far as State houses aro concerned.

This group makes a total of 72 houses in Ashburton, 60 of them being occupied. They are in four groups—24 at Nethorbv, 24 on Beach Road,, Cambridge Street and Tailored Street, 12 on Nelson Street, and 12 at the corner of Beach Road and Willow Street.
