TULIP DAY.
THE WILLOWBY DISPLAY. “Tulip Day” garden party, held in the Rev. W. W. Avery’s garden at Willowby on Saturday afternoon in aid of the funds of the local Red Cross Society, was very popular, visitors being present from nearby districts. The profusion of tulip blooms was much admired, over 1000 flowers being in various stages of perfection. Mrs J. R. Lattimore (president of the Willowbv Sub-Centre) welcomed the visitors and declared the j>arty open. Mesdarnes O’Grady, H. Oakley, H. Griffith and Miss Vessey were in charge of the stall, and Misses M. Chapman and M. Keen were in charge of the sweets sale. Competitions were won as follows: Clock golf, Mrs J. R. Lattimore; nail driving (ladies), Mrs Beaven; (men), Mr G. H. B. Lill; chainstepping (ladies), Mrs Harvey and Mrs W. McKay (equal); (men), Mr H. Griffith; floral, Miss M. M. Lill. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Knox and Mrs Mooney (conveners) and members of the Red Cross.
