SYNOD TAKES ACTION.

RELIGION AND EDUCATION. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Proposals aiming at “a new nationwide movement to ensure a religious education for the children of New Zealand,” were approved last week by the Anglican Synod, when the debate on the motion of the Rev. D. M. Taylor was concluded. Synod set up a committee to discuss the proposals and report to Synod next year.

As defined by the motion, the committee’s duties will be, (1) to enlist the co-operation of other diocesan synods and other Church assemblies in a new, nation-wide movement to ensure religious education to the children of New Zealand; and (2) to formulate in consultation with representatives of other denominations a programme for reform and a plan of campaign, to be embodied in a report to be presented to the next session of Synod.
