POSITIONS OF THE TEAMS.
The following table gives the points of the teams -in the Ashburton Men s Hockev Association championship
The Walcamvi Club is scheduled to play ltedclifie Club (South Canterbury) in the elimination round of the allvei Hall Shield An Saturday. This shield, which is. perhaps the most handsome to be competed tor by hockev players in the South. Island, was presented by Messrs Walker and Hah many years ago for annual competition between the winning club irom North Otago, South Canterbury, Geraldine and Mid-Canterbury Associations. bmce 1937 the Geraldine Association has merged with South Canterbury, leaving only three associations eligible tor Walker Hall Shield games. Up till 1940 South Canterbury clubs had successfully defended the trophy but' were eliminated in the first round last year, Thistle (Ashburton) playing the hnal with Oamaru, who, after a very close game, won. This year the winners ot the Walcanui-Redcliffe match will play the leading North Otago club in the hnal.
