CLOSING OF NORTH ISLAND MAILS CHANGES FROM TO-DAY. Commencing on Thursday, August 7, North Island mails for despatch by Steamer Exnress will close at the Asiihurton Post Office on Mondays at 2.45 p.m., late fee 3.10 p.m., guard’s van 3.37 p.m.; Tuesdays to Fridays at 4.15 p.m., late fee 4.40 p.m., guard’s van 5.14 p.m.; and Saturdays 12.30 p.m., guard’s van 5.14 p.m. The following changes will also be made in the hours of clearances or street receivers : Town area—Mondays, 9 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.; Tuesdays to Fridays, 9 a.m. and 4.15 p.m. ; Saturdays, 12.30 p.m. Outer area—Mqndays, 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.; Tuesdays to Fridays, 9 a.m. ana 3.15 >p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. Mails for the north close at Ashburton as follow :—■ Monday 0n1y—4.30 a.m.; 10.30 a.m.; guard’s van 11.10 am; 2.45 p.m., late fee at Post Office 3.10 p.m., guard’s van 3.37. Air Mail Services. Trans-Tasman air mails will be despatched as opportunity offers. Air mails within New Zealand close at the Ashburton Post Office; Northbound—Monday to Friday inclusive, at 8 p.m., also at 4.30 a.m., on Monday South-bound —Monday to Friday at 7 a.m. The next trans-Pacific Air Mail closes at the Ashburton Post Office on Tuesday, August 12 Overseas Mails (Outward). Mails for overseas will be closed and forwarded as opportunity offers.
