LINEN FLAX CROP.

SEED DISTRIBUTION NEXT MONTH. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Seed for the. new linen flax crop will be available for distribution next month. The seed is delivered by the Linen Flax Section free to the grower’s nearest raiway station or to his nearest factory, if that is more convenient. The seed this year will in. most cases be delivered to farmers in the district in which it w r as grown, but.it has not been found practicable to deliver back to farmers seed that they have themselves grown. The object of keeping the seed within a district is to avoid the possibility of introducing weeds from one. district to another. As far as possible the sowings of the variety known as liral crown will beextended. This variety which was developed by the Linen' Industry Research Association is regarded overseas as a type wdiich gives a higher percentage of fibre and fibre of higher quality than other varieties. Liral crown was used at Blenheim this year, hut the bulk of the acreage in other localities was sown with a. variety known as Concurrent. Concurrent has given excellent results in New' Zealand.
