THE MEN CALLED UP TO-DAY. EARLY MEDICAL EXAMINATION, STATEMENT J3Y MINISTER. ' -A CP.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. “A further 23,825 men were called np for service overseas ■with' the New Zealand Expeditionary Force by Gazette to-day,” stated the Minister for National Service (the Hon. R. Semple) “This. Gazette contains the names of all those men at present in the register of Class A of the First Division of the General Reserve, that' .is, men who attained the ago of 21 but 'have not attained the age of 41.” The following summary shows the number called in each military area: Auckland 3758 ‘ Paeroa 1374 Whangarei - 931, Hamilton 1450 ' Wellington 32p3 Wanganui 1578 Napier 1919 New Plymouth 1063 Nelson 1447 Christchurch 3568 Dunedin 1891 Invercargill l 1593 “The medical examination will he proceeded with immediatelysaid the. Minster, “but while it is not likely, that the majority will be called-tip'for some months, it is anticipated that some may be required at a comparatively early date. .It is advisable, therefore, that all the men concerned should make arrangements so that they- may be available for posting to camp, at fairly short notice, if required.”
