The era of racing prosperity in the Dominion, particularly in the Auckland Province, is reflected ini the decision of the committee of the Auckland Racing Club to increase the stake money for .the next Auckland Cup at Ellerslie on Boxing Day to £3500. Last year the cup was valued at £3OOO, and was won by the topweight, Beau Vito. (9.6). In the 1921-22 season the cup was valued at £3500, and was won by Mr H. A. Knight’s Malaga, an outsider. No other race in NeSv Zealand has been worth £3500.
