TREES UPROOTED.
PLANTED IN CHALMERS AVENUE. DISAPPEAR DURING THE NIGHT. Thirty pine trees which were planted on the side of the roadway which is the southern extension of Chalmers Avenue were uproooted during last night and taken away. The Borough Council had decided to continue the avenue of trees beyond the present point between Moore and Kerltiode Streets and young trees were planted yesterday by the Domain staff. This morning it was found that all the trees had been removed, together with the stakes which were put in to protect the trees. Up to noon today neither stakes nor trees had been located, and it ife understood that a serious view is taken of the affair.
